The core of every trip. Dawn and late-afternoon drives when the cats are moving and the light is worth photographing, in a pop-top 4x4 with a licensed driver-guide who has worked the same circuits for years.

Lift off before dawn and drift over the plains as the light comes up — Kilimanjaro behind you in Amboseli, the herds below you in the Mara. Lands with a champagne breakfast in the bush. Booked as an optional extra on the day.
Rift Valley
Swap the 4x4 for a small boat and move among hippo pods and fish eagles on a freshwater lake, then step onto Crescent Island and walk — no vehicle, no fences — among giraffe, zebra and waterbuck.

Kenya on foot, where the parks allow it. Hell's Gate's gorge and cycling track, Crescent Island's plains game, and armed-ranger walking in the conservancies — the closest you get to the ground.

Ride out among plains game that barely lifts its head at a horse. Naivasha for gentle lakeside hacks, Lewa for serious riding across conservancy country — a real optional extra on both, priced below.
Hell's Gate · Naivasha
One of the only Kenyan parks you may cycle through. Ride the valley floor between the cliffs with zebra and giraffe alongside, then walk the gorge. Bike hire is a few dollars, not a package upgrade.
Naivasha · Amboseli
Safari is early mornings and long drives — the middle of the day is for a pool with Kilimanjaro behind it, a jetty at sunset, archery on the lawn, or simply not being in a vehicle.

Full board on every trip, and at the Sopa properties that means lunch laid out with Kilimanjaro in front of you. Dietary requirements go in your brief and reach the kitchen before you arrive.
