About this experience

Ol Pejeta is the most successful rhino conservancy in East Africa and home to the planet's last two northern white rhino, Najin and Fatu. It's also a working cattle ranch that funds the conservation, a Big Five reserve, and the only place in Kenya you can see chimpanzees (at the Sweetwaters sanctuary). For travellers who want their safari to mean something, this is the one — with Mount Kenya filling the southern sky.

Common questions

Can I really see the last northern white rhino?+

Yes. Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhino on Earth, live under 24-hour armed protection at Ol Pejeta. A ranger-guided visit is included — it's a sobering, unforgettable encounter.

Where do the chimpanzees come from? Kenya has no wild chimps.+

Correct — the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a refuge for chimps rescued from the black market and war zones across Africa. It's the only place to see them in Kenya.

Is Ol Pejeta good for families?+

One of our best family choices — short distances, a fenced conservancy, the chimp sanctuary and the rhino visit all keep kids engaged. Ages 5+ recommended.
