Indicative schedule — day by day
Planned rhythm for your trip — your guide may adjust on the day for conditions, light and wildlife.
Day 1: Nairobi → Maasai Mara
We collect you from your Nairobi hotel in the morning and drive to the Maasai Mara. After lunch at camp you set out on an afternoon game drive across the savannah.
Day 2: Full day in the Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives in the reserve, looking for lion, elephant, cheetah and, in season, the wildebeest herds. You can add a visit to a Maasai village if you'd like to learn about local life, and the evening light over the plains is good for photographs.
Day 3: Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru
After breakfast you drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, with a lunch stop in Narok. Your lodge looks out over the Rift Valley, and an afternoon game drive takes you round the lake for flamingos, rhino, giraffe, zebra and plenty of birdlife.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru → Amboseli
A day on the road south to Amboseli, known for its large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You arrive for lunch, then head out on an afternoon drive for elephant, lion, giraffe and birdlife.
Day 5: Full day in Amboseli
Morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli, with time to photograph the elephants against Kilimanjaro when the mountain is clear. Zebra, giraffe, cheetah and a wide range of birds are also found here.
Day 6: Amboseli → Tsavo West
After breakfast you leave Amboseli and drive to Tsavo, checking in at your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you visit the Tsavo West rhino sanctuary and look for leopard, one of the park's more elusive residents.
Day 7: Tsavo West → Tsavo East
A morning game drive in Tsavo West includes Mzima Springs, where hippo, crocodile and a wide range of birds live around the springs. You then cross to Tsavo East, home of the red-dusted elephants, for lunch and an afternoon drive on its open plains.
Day 8: Tsavo East → SGR train → Mombasa
After an early breakfast and an optional morning drive, you transfer to the station for the Standard Gauge Railway train to Mombasa. On arrival you're taken to your beach resort, with the afternoon free to enjoy the Indian Ocean.
Day 9: Beach day near Mombasa
A free day at the resort to swim, rest on the beach or book extras such as snorkelling, diving, deep-sea fishing or a spa treatment. Dinner is at the resort.
Day 10: Mombasa → SGR train → Nairobi
A slow morning by the sea before check-out, then a transfer to the Mombasa SGR station for the afternoon train to Nairobi. You arrive in the evening and we drop you at your hotel or onward connection.

Preparation & packing
Before you go
- This section is general Kenya travel guidance — not a substitute for official advice or your doctor.
- We confirm trip-specific details (property, pickup times, park rules) with you on WhatsApp before departure.
- Questions about 10-Day Kenya Safari & Beach? Message us anytime — we'd rather you ask than guess.
Visa & entry
- Most visitors need a Kenya eTA before travel — apply at etakenya.go.ke and check the current fee and rules.
- Passport usually needs 6+ months' validity and blank pages — verify with your airline and immigration.
- Keep a printed copy of this itinerary and your eTA approval for border control.
Health
- Yellow fever certificate may be required depending on where you are travelling from — check Kenya's latest entry rules.
- Malaria prevention is commonly recommended for safari areas — ask your doctor well before you fly.
- Travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is strongly recommended.
- Bring personal medication in original packaging.
Weather & clothing
- Safari mornings and evenings are often cooler than midday — layers work better than one heavy coat.
- Neutral colours (khaki, olive, beige) are standard for game drives.
- Rain can appear in any season — a light waterproof layer is worth packing.
- We send a short weather note for your dates once your trip is confirmed.
Packing list
- Comfortable closed shoes for walking + sandals for camp or lodge
- Sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
- Binoculars if you have a pair (optional — ask us if you'd like a recommendation)
- Power bank + travel adaptor (Kenya commonly uses Type G plugs, 240V)
- Soft bag often works better than a hard suitcase if your trip includes light-aircraft legs — we'll confirm luggage limits for your routing
- Some cash in USD (clean, newer bills) or KES for tips and small purchases
- Insect repellent
Money & connectivity
- Cards work in Nairobi and at many properties; cash is still useful for tips and markets.
- M-Pesa is widely used in Kenya — we can walk you through it on arrival if helpful.
- Wi‑Fi varies by property (lodge, camp, or hotel) — signal on game drives is usually limited.
- Tipping customs vary by property and guide — we share current guidelines for your trip before you travel.
